A leading planning think tank has backed the notion of new eco-communities to help solve the growing housing crisis.

Government funding for the Norwich Northern Distributor Road (NDR) is ‘Great news and a tremendous shot in the arm for the Norfolk economy’ said the Leader of Norfolk County Council.

The Government today (14 December) announced an £86.5m allocation for the NDR from Postwick to the A140 (Norwich Airport), including the critical Postwick Hub junction improvement (see notes below).

New-style charges which developers must pay to help fund improvements to the infrastructure needed to serve major new homes and jobs growth in Greater Norwich are poised to be fixed lower than originally expected.

The Government has published proposals, including draft regulations on the reform of the Community Infrastructure Levy for consultation.

The Greater Norwich Development Partnership has announced the launch of the Community Infrastructure Levy Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule consultation. The consultation opens on Monday 3 October 2011 and comments are invited over a six-week period until Monday 14 November 2011.
